Benjamin Seymour

Litigation Fellow

New York

Benjamin Seymour joined Stris & Maher in 2017 following his graduation magna cum laude from Brown University, where he double-majored in Philosophy and English. Benjamin received numerous awards recognizing his academic achievement, including his induction as a junior into Phi Beta Kappa. Benjamin’s thesis focused on Immanuel Kant’s conception of freedom.

Beyond the classroom, Benjamin served the Providence community by researching housing discrimination on behalf of Rhode Island Legal Services. The Rhode Island Housing Board of Commissioners adopted several of Benjamin’s recommendations, most notably ending the automatic rejection of public housing applicants with criminal backgrounds. Benjamin also founded and served as the editor-in-chief of A Priori, Brown’s first philosophy journal.

After his fellowship, Benjamin intends to combine his interests in academic rigor and public impact by attending law school. He is proficient in German and French.
